Charlotte's Squad
Story
In 2020 our 3-year-old daughter, Charlotte, was diagnosed with cancer (Neuroblastoma). A very large tumour was taking up most of her abdomen.
Charlotte started treatment at the Royal Children's Hospital straight away. Over the next 18 months, Charlotte would undergo 5 rounds of Chemotherapy, a Stem Cell Transplant, Radiation Therapy, Immunotherapy, and multiple surgeries. Not a weapon in the cancer treatment armoury was spared.
Charlotte's main surgery in December 2020 took surgeons 28 hours of surgery, performed in two bouts over three days, to remove it, in the hardest tumour resection Royal Children’s Hospital surgeons have faced.
But none of this truly bothered Charlotte. Let that sink in for a minute...
She was always a happy, vibrant, and intelligent little chatterbox. She loved going to kinder when she was up to it. And dancing and singing were always at the top of her to-do list when family visited. But most of all, Charlotte loved to play with her dolls.
In March 2022, not long after being in remission, Charlotte relapsed. None of the treatments had worked and we had run out of options.
On 1st September Charlotte Jayne Alexander passed away, at home in her Mum's arms.
Our goal is to raise as much money for RCH to assist other kids like Charlotte to receive the best possible treatments.
